Kasimatis Studios Hotel is located in Imerovigli, around 3 km away from Fira, the capital of Santorini, 13 km from the port and 9 km from the airport. Imerovigli means "day watch" and it was named many years ago by the local people, since it was the highest spot of the Caldera rim. Its inhabitants used to watch the sea for pirate attacks. The studios offer panoramic view to the Caldera.
One of the most attractive places of Imerovigli is the castle of Scaros. It was used as the main dwelling by the Venetian leader Marko Sanouthos, who dominated the island in 1207. The castle protected the western entrance of the island from attacks. It included two portions, "Rocka" and an area where Roman aristocrats and Catholic bishops had their residence. The castle was never defeated during the 600 years of existence.
Imerovigli is a place over-sighting Caldera, ideal for observation, photographs and videos under an extraordinary variety of natural lights and colors. It is located at the highest point of the Caldera's rim giving from any point of the village a breathtaking view towards the volcano, the sea and the surrounding islets. Because of its proximity with FIRA, Imerovigli is connected with a public road or by an old path, offering a spectacular view as you walk along the rim.
